Sunday 13th July saw the rearranged men’s Club Championship quarter and semi finals start in a downpour following overnight rain. However, the course held out well and the quarter finalists played some superb golf with some exciting matches. The Men’s quarters brought wins for Chris Bowman against Stephen Maude; the defending champion Karl Mossom against the 2012 champion Rod Armstrong; Paul Shanks against Gavin Jobe and Neil Little against Geordie Stott. In the Seniors Handicap quarter finals Ernie Bishop beat Tess Mann; Jim Walker beat Malcolm Elliott, Dave McAuley beat Paul Gaughan and Bryan Malone beat Mick Elder. In the afternoon, the weather was warm and dry and in the men’s semi finals, Karl Mossom beat Chris Bowman and Paul Shanks beat Neil Little in two well contested matches. So the 36 hole final will be between Karl and Paul on a date to be arranged. Well done guys and thanks to the few members who braved the morning rain to support the players.
