D DAY – The Ladies at Parklands had a special day on Saturday in remembrance of Dorothy Hutchins who had been a playing member of the section for 30 years. Her nephew Gary and family donated the 2 new trophies, handmade of light oak, and the engraved wine glass mementoes for the winners of the 9 and 18 hole competitions. Although there were a couple of heavy downpours the course played well and with nearly 50 taking part it was one of our biggest fields. There was tea and refreshments after the round and a great crowd stayed for the presentation. The winners were Lilian Allison for the 18 Hole and Marylin Bint for the 9 Hole. Gary gave a speech thanking everyone for taking part, saying that Dorothy was probably having a good laugh at us all getting soaking wet in her name. We all then drank a toast in remembrance of this special lady. Parklands version of D Day was a great success.
