When we enter big national competitions such as the Daily Mail Foursomes, most of us have relatively low expectations of making the national finals; the barrier in our way consists of 7 rounds of foursomes matchplay, some matches at home and some away and each match getting tougher as the competition progresses. However, this was no barrier to our very own pairing of Denise Swidlehurst and Kath Morpeth who won all 7 rounds to qualify for the national finals, played this week at the Marriott Forest of Arden & Country Club. Getting there was one thing, but after a practice round on the first day, Denise and Kath went on to play for eight and half hours on the second day winning both their morning (won at the 20th hole) and afternoon matches (won 2 up on the 18th) to move into the semi-finals on the final day. Unfortunately, they lost their semi-final match, but their achievement was magnificent and worthy of our heartiest congratulations. You have done Parklands proud!
