Gavin Webster, star of Sky 1’s comedy hit, Starlings, is the headline act, while the highly rated John Whale and Andy Clark are also on the bill, pencilled in for Saturday, February 1.
Webster provided support for comedy legend Alexei Sayle last autumn, and received a glowing endorsement from the pioneer of alternative comedy prior to his tour. The former Young Ones’ star acknowledged the Wallsend wit as “one of the funniest and most undervalued comedians in the country”, while being interviewed by Simon Mayo on BBC Radio 2 at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
The Geordie funnyman, has also appeared on Never Mind the Buzzcocks; The 11 O’Clock Show, BBC1’s Walk on the Wild Side and alongside The Fast Show’s John Thompson, nice, among other things. Meanwhile, the idiosyncratic John Whale and surreal Andy Clark are unquestionably destined for bigger things. Remember where you saw them first.
Try your best to get down and support the show and the club. The event is open to members and non members. If you are struggling for transport, get your heads together and share a taxis or a mini bus. It will help spread the cost of the evening and avoid any unnecessary expenditure.
Tickets are £5, doors at 7pm for an 8pm start and there is a late bar until midnight. Nibbles will be provided during the interval. For more details or tickets see Michelle or Isabelle in the office or call 07593204320.
