Junior Skills and Junior Success

The juniors at Parklands continue to have a good season as they learn their skills and apply them to good effect. The Parklands juniors Thomas Middleton, Kieran Buchan and Ami Buchan, Luke Jameson and Libby Bell entered the NE and Durham Junior Golf Tour 2013 earlier this summer. The contest consists of four, nine hole qualifying competitions open to players without a handicap and for those with a handicap of 18 or more between the ages of 7 and 12 on the 1st of January 2013. At each event players were able to earn points towards the Order of Merit. Players then qualified to represent Northumberland in a match against teams from Durham and Cumbria.  Thomas Middleton won the category for Advanced boys age 12 and under; Kieran Buchan came 4th; Luke Jameson won Beginners Boys (7-9); Libby Bell and Amy Buchan came 2nd and 4th respectivley in the beginners for girls. An excellent result for the Parklands. It was played out over four venues (Foxton, Ponteland, Gosforth and Blyth) and points gained against position finished. They were then picked to represent Northumberland against Durham and Cumbria at Matfen Hall on Sunday 1st September. They performed well but Durham won the day. This is a good reflection on Parklands and the Junior set up. Well done to all the juniors involved. Full results on the junior tab ……
