Today was the finals of the Men’s Club Championship and the Seniors Handicap Trophy held at Parklands. The Men’s Championship final is played over 36 holes of matchplay and the finalists were Karl Mossom and Rob Bell who had both qualified with two rounds of strokeplay and then 3 rounds of match play. The morning session started at 7.30 in dry but windy conditions. Karl had a strong start and at the lunch break had a commanding lead after shooting an impressive 2 shots over par. In the late morning session, Rob Bell held his own, but could not pull back any of the lead Karl had built in the earlier session. The 2016 Men’s Club Champion is Karl Mossom; congratulations to Karl and to Rob for a spirited performance.
In the Seniors competition (which is played over 18 holes with handicaps), John Curtis could not repeat the form he had shown in the earlier rounds and could not match the steady play of Bob Hunter. Congratulations Bob and commiserations to John. The official presentations will take place at the Club Presentation Evening in November.
