The men’s section held their AGM and Presentation Night on Friday 3rd December in the clubhouse. The event was the first held as High Gosforth Park Golf Club and was attended by around 50 members who enjoyed a free drink and table snacks.
The Chairman, Kenny Shepherd, welcomed the members and gave thanks to all the Bar Staff, Shop and Office staff, the Greenkeepers and ARC. A minute’s silence was observed to remember all those lost in the last two years due to COVID and other reasons.
We welcomed four new members to our committee, Ian Cunningham, Keith Gill, Mark Hurley and Daniel Train who will no doubt prove valuable assets to the section. Terry Cooper was thanked for his hard work during many years as a valued committee member.
There were a number of proposals put before the AGM which will result in a couple of rule changes being implemented next season ( details to follow). There will also be some changes to the fixture list to include more Pairs and Scrambles being included.
There were 39 Trophies and awards due to be presented however disappointingly only 17 were given out due to winners not turning up. A great deal of time and expense is spent on this event and it is quite upsetting that so many cannot be bothered to attend.
I will take this opportunity to wish all members of High Gosforth Park Golf Club a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
