The Annual General Meeting and Presentation Evening of the Northumberland Junior Golf Association was held at the City of Newcastle Golf Club yesterday evening. The Association organises and promotes junior golf within the county for both boys and girls under 21 years of age running match and strokeplay competitions, county team championships and organises matches with other counties, leagues and unions and provides an extensive coaching programme. The Association has no guaranteed income and relies heavily on income raised from Patrons by way of direct subscriptions and from the proceeds of patrons day competitions. So when Geordie Stott, our Liaison Officer with the NJGA, asks you for a £2 annual subscription to become a Patron (or £25 for life membership), please support the juniors within the county.
At the meeting we were proud to see the appointment of Samantha Malone as Girls Captain for 2014 and the announcement of her Vice-Captain as Niamh Lendrum. Well done ladies and good luck for the coming year.
Samantha and Niamh also had trophies to collect form their endeavours during the 2013 season. Samantha collected the trophy for the overall winner girls from the strokeplay championships at Seahouses and another for the autumn meeting winner at Newbiggin, whilst Niamh also collected a trophy from the strokeplay championship winning the under 18 girls.
Well done ladies.
