It's been a busy day on the PC and websites today, but we finally have the switchover and as a result this will be the primary website. It will be updated further in the next few days and the old site has been removed to http://www.recoverymemories.co.uk/ However the old site will no longer be maintained and will deleted in a few months. In addition, the Secretary's Blog will no longer be updated as the front page of this website will provide an adequate place for comments and notices.
New Year and New Rules
The New Year has brought with it a number of changes to the Rules of Golf and a new issue of the Rules book by the R&A. We have a number of copies for distribution to our members. You can obtain yours by asking any committee member. The main changes :-
- Addressing the Ball
- Ball Moving after Address
- Ball in a hazard – Prohibited Actions
- Seeing Ball – Searching for Ball
There are a number of short videos on the R&A website which are worth watching and here is the link http://www.randa.org/en/Rules-and-Amateur-Status/New-Rules-2012.aspx
Happy New Year
Closed on New Year’s Day
Please note that I have been informed that the complex will be closed on New Years Day. This means no shop, no range, no greenkeepers, no access to the clubhouse or locker rooms. So the best advice is … have a nice lie in and then enjoy the first day of the new year with your friends and family.
Merry Christmas
Vets Section Prize Presentation
The Veterans Section of the Club held their annual Dinner Dance and Prize Presentation night at Parklands last night. The event was well attended with 66 members and guests sitting down to dine to Lynn and Cheryl's Christmas menu. The club removed all the furniture in the clubroom and replaced it with circular tables and a dance floor and the transformation made a homely atmosphere. This is the first time this event has been held at Parklands but the effort was appreciated by all attending the event. The prizes were presented by Brian and Linda Woof and the evening was topped off with a mammoth raffle and a disco. Well done to all the organisers.
Past Captains Page
Hi Folks … I''m slowly populating and amending this ghost site prior to its launch and replacement of the current Parklands Members Site. I've just finished the Past Captains' page (see the 'About Us' drop down menu). If you have photographs of the missing Captains, please let me borrow them to make up the set.
Presentation Evening
The Club Presentation Evening held on Friday, 25th November 2011 in the Club House was well attended with over 50 prizewinners attending to pick up a collection of men's, ladies and juior trophies won during the 2011 season. Well done to you all and many thanks for attending and making this into a superb occasion. The Ladies AGM
The Ladies Section held their AGM in the Clubhouse last night and the event was well attended. Reports were given by the officials and committee members and then the Captaincy was transferred from Yvonne Welch to Anne Hope. We wish Anne a successful and rewarding year as Lady Captain. Anne announced her Vice-Captain for 2012 as Barbara Newman. Congratulations Barbara. There were 2 committee members and one other member standing for the 2 vacancies on the committee so a vote was necessary and the 2 committee members were re-elected. Betty Bainbridge stood down from the committee and she will be greatly missed.
