Parklands Junior Andrew Griffiths (aged 8) competed in the ‘Lee Westwood Golf Camps National Finals’ held at Close House on Monday 29th September. Consisting of a nine hole par 18 skills challenge, involving bunkers, chipping, pitching and putting out. Then a putting skills challenge, and finally in the afternoon, 9 holes on the Filly Course. Andrew came first on the nine hole skills challenge and a close second on the Filly Course with a 44 on the front 9. The winner went round in 43. He finished third overall. He also won the contest for the longest, most accurate drive, only missing the target line by 10cm. Lee Westwood (fresh from Europe’s Ryder Cup win at Gleneagles) presented Andrew with his prizes later that evening.
