The hosts braved the elements and benefitted from course knowledge to play some admirable golf and share first place with Dinsdale Spar after accumulating 224pts on the day. There were several fine performances on the day but none better than Wally Cartwright’s knock. Wally was in sparkling form.
Rabbits captain Neil Watson said: “Well done to all the players in tough conditions. They all did the Rabbits proud and helped make all the visitors welcome. Special mention to top scorer Wally Cartwright. I would also like to thank Danny, Tommy Watson and Geoff Brown for their help and commitment on the day. Thanks also to Jackie, Lynn and all of the kitchen crew who worked really hard to make everyone welcome, and to keep them all fed and watered. I would also like to thank Colin Davison on behalf of the whole Rabbits’ team for all of the hard work involved in running the day and organising the team this year.”
The triumph earned Parklands seven league points and, as a consequence, climb one place from fourth to third in the table. Crook are top on 12 points, followed by: Dinsdale Spar 12; Parklands 11; Garesfield 10, Chester-le-Street 5, Wearside 4 and Stocksfield 3.
Parklands were represented by: Stephen Hedley, Iwan Owen, John Raisbeck, Frank Findlay, Billy Scott, Mick Mullen, Ian McPhillips and Wally Cartwright.
Next week Parklands play the third round of games at Chester-le-Street.
