The 2014 Rabbits season culminated with the Finals day which was held at the prestigious Rockliffe Hall Championship course on Sunday 5th Oct 2014. Finals day consisted of a team event, which was won by South Moor, and an Individual event where Richard Rutherford represented Parklands, having qualified as the Parklands player with the best average score based on the 7 rabbits league matches played this year. Richard put in an excellent performance on this very challenging course, which hosted an European Senior event a few weeks earlier, and his score of 35 points was good enough to put him in the runner-up spot in the 2014 Rabbits individual championship. Richard being Richard, he was not happy with his performance, stating he seem to spend half the round in bunkers, some of which were the size of small countries!
A total of 465 players played in the Rabbits league this year, and to be crowned runner-up is a great achievement for which Richard should be congratulated. Next year there are plans for more teams and more players to be involved in the Rabbits League and the hope and ambition is that the Parklands Rabbits team as well as the top player qualifies for the 2015 Finals day.
